Medical Marijuana Edibles refers to any food, beverage, or other type of digestible infused with cannabis. Cannabis can be infused in many different ways through several different processes. The majority of our medical marijuana edibles, including cookies, gummies, and capsules, are infused using an oil extract processed similarly to Rick Simpson’s method. Other medical edibles are created by extracting the flower’s medicine through a direct solvent like butter.
When properly prepared cannabis is digested, the body’s liver will process much of the powerful THC medication into a more psychoactive chemical. Everybody’s liver processes THC at different rates. The effects of eaten cannabis can vary greatly among patients. This powerful medication can bring amazing pain relief to patients, however large doses of THC can cause nausea and temporary paranoia. For new or inexperienced patients, we recommend starting with a small dose of 5mg or less THC, preferably taken with an equal or greater dose of CBD. We find that CBD can help lessen the negative effects associated with too much THC.
Being responsible for your own medication is a priority when it comes to medicating with cannabis. To get the best results from your cannabis, a patient must take the risk of experimentation. We recommend a low dose to start, but many of our patients require doses exceeding 100mg of THC a day. If you find little relief from a low dose, increase your THC dose another 5mg. Cannabis usually takes over an hour to fully metabolize in the body, so be sure to wait at least an hour before considering a medical edible’s effects.
